Fiberglass roll insulation is a fast solution when the insulating job must be
performed in a short amount of time. Presented as a manufactured fibrous
insulation material, fiberglass roll insulation can be found as short or long
rolls.
Uses of Fiberglass Roll Insulation
Well-known for their excellent qualities in home insulation, fiberglass rolls
are used for insulating many areas in the house, like basement walls, floors,
concrete walls or other conditioned living spaces. Small quantities of
fiberglass rolls can be used in tiny places or on open areas as mentioned.
Installing of Fiberglass Roll Insulation
As one of its uses is to insulate the walls, fiberglass roll insulation is sold
as fifteen or twenty-three inches wide rolls that can be up to twenty-five feet
long. The first step for the correct insulation of the walls using fiberglass
rolls is to fix wooden studs into the walls with hardened concrete nails. After
that, the fiberglass rolls are hung against the surfaces to be insulated, cut to
fit the needed size and installed between those studs. For better fixing the
insulation, duct tape is used to secure it into its place. The last step is to
cover the fiberglass roll insulation with drywall or wood paneling.
Precautions During Fiberglass Roll Insulation Installation
When fiberglass roll insulation is being installed, it is recommended to wear
some sort of protective equipment as masks and gloves, even if this particular
insulation product is not known to cause any health damage. Also, it must be
mentioned that fiberglass roll insulation must be kept away from chimneys and
heat sources. As a recommendation, before installing fiberglass roll insulation,
the needed amount of fiberglass rolls should be established.
